Summer Storm

Summer Storm Tactical Map

ick Barber has spent a lifetime researching the Battle of Gettysburg and lives in close proximity to the battlefield itself. In terms of map work, SUMMER STORM represents the most detailed and accurate representation of the battlefield to date. Rick was involved in designing the game maps for The 3 Days of Gettysburg (GMT Games) and This Hallowed Ground (The Gamers) - so this represents Rick's third foray in architecting a representative map of the battlefield. Not many can stake this claim.

SUMMER STORM is a grand tactical/operational treatment of the three days of battle that ended Robert E. Lee's summer offensive in June and July of 1863. While the scale of the game, at 200 yards per hex, is semi-tactical, the actual game mechanics have been kept as simple and playable as possible in order to allow the focus of the game to be on the problems of battlefield command. The Operational game presents the players with the challenge of maneuvering a scattered army into battle in the face of an enemy of unknown size and location.
